ATLANTA (May 27, 2021) – The Atlanta Braves, through the Atlanta Braves Foundation and with the support of Major League Baseball’s Legacy Fund, are partnering with The Warrior Alliance (TWA) to establish a community veteran facility at The Battery Atlanta. The new facility, named “The Warrior Alliance Home Base at The Battery Atlanta,” will attract veterans who seek assistance, expand veteran and family engagement with partner services, and establish a hub for the Atlanta community to participate in more veteran programming.
Metro Atlanta is home to over 250,000 veterans, and there are over 750,000 across the state of Georgia, many of whom are now facing housing, financial, health, and employment issues as a result of the pandemic. This new facility will serve as a one-stop, central connection point for Braves Country veterans, their families, and TWA’s community partner organizations to meet and engage.
The Warrior Alliance Home Base will feature office space, a conference room, an intake area, and a warrior bullpen. The space will be used to:
Provide a family-oriented veteran lounge and entertainment facility to relax, meet, network, and engage in veteran care services,
Perform partner care coordination, referrals, and program activation,
Conduct private meetings with veterans and their families for intake and assessment,
Engage active-duty service members, veterans, and their families in military appreciation events, community partner programs, education/training seminars, and veteran volunteerism.
This Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, proceeds from the Atlanta Braves Foundation 50/50 Raffle and Gameday Auction will benefit The Warrior Alliance Home Base. Additionally on that day, the Braves will host families from Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (T.A.P.S), and The United States Marine Corps, Recruiting Station Atlanta, 6th Marine Corps District will provide honor guard Marines for overwatch on the POW-MIA chair inside Truist Park. The Atlanta Braves Memorial Day 5K presented by Northside Hospital will also benefit The Warrior Alliance Home Base at the Battery Atlanta. Registration for the race is open now thru May 31 at Braves.com/runbraves.
